About The Small Boat Shop
In 1980, recently retired Ed Rogers started the Small Boat Shop, selling the types of interesting small boats that he personally was interested in and liked, primarily small cruising sailboats, touring rowing shells, and sea kayaks. The Small Boat Shop quickly earned a reputation for excellent service and quality products. The on-water location enabled customers to try boats before purchasing, and its large number of suppliers enabled the Shop to offer a selection of hard to find products and services. The line of sea kayaks, canoes, and accessories was expanded to represent the best and most useful equipment available. The present owner, Dick Klinger, acquired the shop in 1990. The shop then expanded into instruction, and now provides lessons and guided trips by sea kayak to the Norwalk Islands and several other enjoyable paddling locations in Connecticut. The Small Boat Shop's main emphasis has always been to enable customers to enjoy and appreciate the coast in a healthy and environmentally friendly manner.
Today, the Small Boat Shop is the premier location in Connecticut for sales, service and information of quality paddlesports equipment.
